  • Data from the four UK national cancer registries to describe the incidence, survival and mortality from cancer diagnosed among children, teenagers and young adults resident in the United Kingdom. The analysis relates to children and young people who were diagnosed with cancer under the age of 25 during the 20-year period of 1997-2016. Includes survival charts 0-14yrs, 15-24 years and 0-24 years.

  • NHS England and Improvement has been undertaking a review of children and young adult cancer services. Following consultation Professor Sir Mike Richards has concluded that all NHS England commissioned Principal Treatment Centres for children’s cancer must be co-located with a level 3 Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and other specialised children’s services.

  • An examination of treatment outcomes for childhood cancer across Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovenia in high- or low-volume hospitals found that treatment centralisation is associated with survival benefits.
