- Analysis of data on primary liver cancers diagnosed during 1997–2017 obtained from population-based, nationwide registries in the UK indicates that incidence and mortality rates have rapidly increased between 1997 and 2014 (rate of increase has plateaued since around 2014); hepatocellular carcinoma incidence and mortality rates were highest in Scottish men; survival has improved, particularly for hepatocellular carcinoma, but remains poor.
